Councillors agreed in March 2018 to improve the bike lanes on Te Whiti Street as a quiet route instead of adding new lanes to Yule Street. The proposed layout for the street wasn’t well supported during consultation, and only offered marginal benefits for people on bikes.

In this quiet street, painted bike lanes between the parked cars and traffic should be enough to make this part of the planned network safer and more appealing for less confident riders. It would help to connect the Leonie Gill Pathway with the Rongotai Road bike lanes.
