The proposed solution for Tirangi Road runs from Coutts Street to the Leonie Gill Pathway.
The impacts on intersections, pedestrian crossings and driveways will be detailed in the next stage of design and available for feedback in November (2017).
The kerbside bike lane improves safety for people on bikes, and encourages less confident riders to use the route. Traffic speeds will not have to change.
Traffic lanes reduced in width from 6.0m to 3.2m, while still allowing space for bigger vehicles
Existing median retained
Current footpath width retained
About 32 parking spaces removed on both sides of the road
Likely uptake by people on bikes: Moderate to high increase
